Message from the Headmaster

Welcome to One World School! I invite you to be part of culture change for children with and without special education needs in Metro Manila. We refer to all of our students as children of all abilities to emphasize the value we place on their individual strengths and limitless potential. We believe in the power of teachers, the curriculum, and the school’s systems in shaping each and every child’s school experience. Through collaboration, close partnerships with parents, differentiated and relevant instruction, and an undying belief in each child's capacity to learn, our teachers effectively teach children of all abilities. Our student body is composed of a most diverse group of learners, including those who are typically developing, those who are gifted and talented in one or more disciplines, and those with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, ADHD, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, deaf/hearing impairment, and cerebral palsy. One World School whole-heartedly accepts children with special education needs, including those with the most significant challenges. We provide appropriate and high standards of education for children of all abilities in a truly nurturing and loving environment. One child and one family at a time, we are changing the culture in Metro Manila by providing meaningful opportunities for typically developing children to learn with children with special education needs, thus promoting an ideal inclusive setting in which students of all abilities benefit from learning from one another and with one another. At One World School, our students develop empathy, compassion, and respect for a wide range of human diversity in abilities. Most importantly, our students develop mutual respect and value one another’s potential to learn and be successful. One World School was founded in the strong belief that anything is possible when our hearts come from a place that prioritizes the well being of each child. Join us and be part of culture change!

I was born in the Philippines many years ago, but lived in different parts of the U.S. for over 20 years. After saving enough money, I came back on my own for a three-week vacation. Within two days, I fell in love with my home country, from the hustle and bustle of Manila to the pristine waters in Palawan, and an overwhelming sense that I was home where I belonged. My journey in education has taken me through the public schools in the U.S., a rural impoverished school in Kenya as a Peace Corps Volunteer, and an exclusive international school in the Philippines. One important lesson I learn each time I move to a new school is that kids around the world from different backgrounds have one thing in common. They all need to feel a sense of belonging. One World School is where I want all children, faculty, staff, and parents to have this deep sense of belonging.
